Also, when you state that your fish are from Sakai, it would be most helpful to others to describe further that it is Sakai Fish Farm or Toshio Sakai/INC Koi Farm. They are two very different/distinct breeders/bloodlines even if they've used fish as oyagoi from one another over the years.
Or Mike to cloud the waters even further dont forget to add Sakai company Ltd in the mix also, Kevin didnt you get some of the Tosai from Russ that was from sakai company ltd?

Some should just read posts and not comment/critique as they really don't have the ability to see what's really there, especially based on a picture of a fish. If you constantly try to find perfection, you will never be satisfied with any of your fish. This is an artistic hobby, and as such, there are static, stoic and abstract designs that will satisfy most everyone. If it just isn't your "cup of tea" then say that. Don't post that you don't see the quality that could actually be an oversight by you, the poster, based on lack of time in the hobby or just being uneducated for rating high quality fish. That's more insulting to the OP and it isn't founded in fact!
      I appreciated very much Mike.

I felt that only time can prove my picking skill so yes let's see the future update of them

      How did they do?

Within over two months they grew 3-5 inches each. I think it is the right time to move these four into the new world. Pond water temperature: 78F

The Shiro looks a bit short/stubby/stocky. Notice the short distance also between the end of the dorsal fin and the front of the caudal fin!?!

They are well fed in a crowded 200 gallons tank. I hope giving them more space to correct better body conformation.

The kohsku lost some luster but that's normal after much growth.

SU had smaller head to start with. The skin is good though.

      Thanks Jeff
I still have some Seaside sinking to mix with the float when they get a bit bigger. But sure 1/4 of the bag to share is nice!

I made the same decision over temperature concern a month ago. One high price tosai disappeared without trace two weeks later. I am still scratching my head. The BD was covered with a tosai proof grill. No dead fish around the pond. No fish in the sieve. I even put a blower on the BD line but nothing (except air and water) came out from this excercise.

So, in reading this, am I correct that you're implying that excessive temperature could cause the BENI to go away? If so, thanks for the info....

Pretty much sudden change in temperature swing cause stress, and any stressor is possible with loosing beni.
