      Sabao Goldfish

After looking for some Tamasaba goldfish the past couple of years, I decided to look for something else. I purchased these 2 Sabao goldfish today. They are the "cousin" to the Tamasaba. They will get a somewhat rounded butterball turkey look, and grow to around 10". They also have a nice wide single tail.

If you're not familiar with them, here's more info. Apparently they are not that common here in the U.S., can't wait to get them!

I had not heard of them either. I was on NDKs site and came across them.

In some overseas places, the fish are called Tamasaba/Sabao as the same variety. But there are subtle differences. Kind of like the Ryukin and the fantail. Close but not the same. Ryukins having a more extreme shape.

Well the fish came in this morning in great shape. They're already swimming around in the pond like they belong there and eating pellets!

Any update on the Sabao goldfish? Did they overwinter in the pond OK?
