I know I’m losing water to the RDF and evaporation from the waterfall. If it stays around this I will be very happy. After testing the water I took a couple of my fish from the other pond and put them in. The grotto was a real hit, the fish are constantly going in one cave and out the other. They seem very happy with their new pond! Also we had a heck of a wind storm the other day and a ton of leaves come down. The skimmer set up has worked perfect for keeping the surface clear. Also what leaves made it to the BD the RDF did a excellent job of getting ride of them. I keep going out there thinking I have to do something but everything is just cruising along. I’m so glad I spent the money on the RDF. Water is not totally clear, has a green tint to it and also have a ton of dust on the bottom. I’m hoping by getting the yard back together it will cut down. Pic of the yard back together and of the pump house walk way to the feeding stone.

on the dust. Decided to make a type of green house cover for the pond this winter and just keep everything running. Will keep you guys posted on how this works out.

This was an inspirational build thread for me this summer so I've been curious how things are going. Any current fish/pond photos? Winter prep underway?

      Kyles pond redo Michigan

Looking ahead to the extended forecast I knew this would be one of the last nice weekends will have till spring. I decided to do a lean to style enclosure. Used 2x4ís double up as beams and 3/4 conduit for laterals. Will see how she holds up this winter. Sheds water really good. I bought 6mil greenhouse plastic for the cover. With the possible mink issue in the winter again I decided this is the best way to go. Unless they dig or chew there way in I should be good. Just going to run all the lines except the waterfall which has been drained back at the filter pit. Will be interesting to see how cold the water gets. Here are a few pics before I covered it and the finished product. Iíll keep you guys posted through the winter how everything goes!

Double chambered water tubes, find them at any large pool store.
