Oh no, so sorry for your loss, I hope you catch the suspect.
Sorry to hear Billy. I hope you catch the little #%*
Just terrible. So sorry Billy.
Last evening I was in the living room (living room is in the back of the house) and opened the sliding glass door to the deck and saw it running on the edge of the big raised pond wall. I walked up to the pond and when it saw me it dove in the water and went in to the skimmer. I grabbed a net and put in in front of the skimmer hoping to catch it on the way out. After holding the net for 20 min. I gave up on that idea and went to the house and loaded a pistol that shoots .410 shotgun shells. I figured I'd lift the lid on the skimmer it would jump out and I would plug it WRONG. I lifted the lid and saw bubbles just outside the skimmer and the next thing I saw was it jumping out of the other side of the pond.
If I had to do it again I would have shot it with a .17WSM from the deck.
SORRY Billy , hope u linch it next time.
We all seem to have predators looking at our koi including myself. I have been their worse enemy as of late but that will be fixed.
Our local animal population have their own unique methods of capture and kill. But this mink, after watching some video, has got to be the best at the job. I didn't realize they were so comfortable with operating in the water. They seem to have all the traits needed to catch fish.
Sorry Bill has to be a witness to this tenacious creature.
Interesting to see the flesh they prefer of the fish as seen in your picture. I would think mouth parts would be the last thing on the table to think about. It is as if there is a sweet spot the Mink predator is looking for.
