Thumbs up Man vs Paw Paw

      Ugh.

I ordered 2 trees from Edible Landscapes last Fall and completely forgot about them.
      They're coming tomorrow.

      Shenandoah (TM) Pawpaw
      Susquehanna (TM) Pawpaw

Wish me luck as I have a red thumb...or maybe a red pinkie? Whatever the opposite of a green thumb is.

However, I can dream. This is my orchard so far and last seasons yield:

2 blueberry bushes: ~10 berries last year, total, not each
1 persimmon tree: 1 tiny inedible persimmon
2 turkey figs: 1 fig total

I'm really looking forward to these pawpaws

I feel ya, Rain. My 3-yo Kadota fig produces about a dozen figs per year, none of which ever ripen, and my Gravenstein apple stick put out one whole mini apple last year.

My fig tree is loaded every year. Love it. My hardy kiwi made it thru the winter.

Your list sounds like my seedling give away this year. My paw paws I planted in the area behind the waterfall should bear this year. Have them at the farm and didn't know until we cleared an area. Have some in my freezer I want to make jam with.

My Mulberrry bears and the birds get theirs first. Persimmons are 2nd year, we'll see.

Rain, fruit trees need a lot of fertilizer in order to produce fruit. Miracle Gro is good, but if you can get some cow manure, they like that best!

Dug two holes in anticipation. Luckily I am a hole digging expert.

Trees came. They look more like twigs.
One has leaves and the other looks dead.
I'm not a tree or plant person but it really looks dead.
I'm going to email the seller to see what they say.

They are so small. I have no reference but thought they'd be bigger

That's what my 2 year old seedlings look like. My bigger seedlings died and the roots send out new trees. I'll get some pics tomorrow, its getting dark.

People come to our seedling giveaway expecting trees but seedlings look like sticks. The roots grow quickly and are impossible to get out of the ground unless you start them in containers so plant them where you want them.

My big ones at the farm aren't doing anything yet. http://www.uky.edu/hort/Pawpaw

Heres the response to my email

We were able to keep some of the plants in the cold frame so they wouldn't
come out to early. Others were in the green house so they have already
leafed. Keep us posted, you should see leaf break as it warms and they
      break dormancy.

Ok these are 4 year old trees/ One is blooming (first time) and one is just starting to bud out.

My 2 year old seedlings we are giving away are almost this big.

Thanks Cindy. Those aren't so big. I couldn't tell have big they'd get.
They said 15-30ft tall but I have no idea how big wide they get. The photos online make them look pretty scrawny.

Are your seedlings grafted or from seeds? Unless seedling specifically means from seeds, lol.
