I can only speak for the Fishmate P7000 but it has worked flawlessly for me. It does need to be able to sit next to the pond unless you DIY a way to suspend it over the pond. I have read several reviews claiming it is difficult to program. As long as I have the instructions it is no problem but without them you would never figure it out. Mine is under a roof so it isn't exposed to the elements so I can't speak to its durability to the environment.

the fishmate is ok. but it does need to be out of the elements it seems. mostly sun. koi cafe needs suspended or secured down. raccoons can knock it into water. toms with upgraded timer doesn't seend to shaby. I need to order 2 soon and can't decide either lol

I had a fishmate for about a year exposed to the elements, and it started dispensing the same huge amount of food every time no matter what setting I changed it to. I stopped using it. I do not have any experience with any other feeders but I am looking for a better one too. I've been looking at the koi cafe and the dream pond feeders.

they can also distort. Russ seems to be able to get the best feeder there is.

My P7000 had a nasty habit of emptying it's entire contents into the pond. They may have eliminated this 'feature', but it was advertised
to have an "anit-clog" design which causes the spiral feed to reverse itself... but with mine it would occasionally go in to this mode (even though
I just fed normal size pellets) and go clockwise and counterclockwise repeatedly until it was empty. After this happened twice it has sat in the garage
      since.

      Solar works flawlessly.
My only advise is be aware of it's weight... if it's like mine they're all metal and not light.

For the price nobody beat the fish mate p7000. My original unit still going on its fourth year. I can program the thing in a jiffy. It is not rocket science. I do have the unit sit on a shelf inside my gazebo then it drop the pellets into a pvc pipe and travel to the pond. Probably why it lasting longer and doesn't go crazy due to not expose to extreme heat. Amazon has it on prime for $72. I will order another one for my growout tank soon.

nice. I think heat is the main problem. Good trick you did.

I can only speak for the Koi cafe. We got one last year and have had no problems so far. One minor issue is that it will gain a little time over a month or so.
