I know nothing about them... does he just play in the dirt? Or needs some type of habitat?

I will likely be getting a sulcata this spring. He grew quick. How much do you feed him? I assume you feed daily, is that correct?

well he likes to bath in the sun when it's warm. I'm winter he has a large 4x8 house with a 60 watt overhead lamp and also a 40 watt heathe pad on the side wall. since sulcatas generally get heat overhead from the sun, I opted to have the heat up top and on the side.

about 80% of the diet is just grass in his area. he also gets artichoke leaves and romaine lettuce and carrots sometimes. occasionally fruit it ok, but can cause diarrhea. he is about 58 pounds now and was 56 when I got him.

here is the little dude also. you should not have 2 males together. shortly after this pic herbie flipped the small one over and if he could not upright he could die. herbie is just all over him, so they have seperate enclosures.

and yes they can climb lol

what do you feed them? are the shells supposed to be bumpy?
i thought about getting a sulcata for a very long time, but our weather and pics of their poop ended that for me.

their shell get what is called pyramiding. Doesn't happen in ones in the wild though. it is either change in diet or lack of hydration. in the wild, they spend much of their time in borrows which are somewhat moist . pyramid doesn't seem to affect health, it is just cosmetic.

and yeah the poop is pretty narly. herbie is actually not to bad, the little guy is a stinky little bugger. I shoveled horse poop for years when I was young, so doesn't bother me to much lol
