Hi Linda, every year, Frank and I send out lotus seeds and start the clock to see who get the first arial leaf and bloom. Will do again next year and welcome!
I have always thought that the Lotus was spectacular. That is really nice of you and Frank to do that.
This one seed I get from Malaysia blooms the first year, its amazing.
I have a love hate relationship with my machine but I have a hat done and
The pattern set up. The bill isn't that long
Yes I can, I"m off tomorrow and the machine is set up

I think I spied one more bud in my third pot of seedlings, It doesn't look like the most vigorous, but I hope it makes it! Now I am dreading how I am going to get these pots into the basement for winter! lol!
Hats went out at lunch. My other pot has a bud

There is not necessarily any reason to wrestle pots...you can dig and store the tubers without them having to be in a substrate. Directions can be found at the attached link; Ten Mile Creek Nursery is probably the premier grower of lotus in the US ....they were involved in (and home for) the groundbreaking Lotus Project conducted under the auspices of Auburn University.
