It looks like the beni is breaking up. I think its beautiful now but the kiwa and the beni boarder on the flanks worry me. Maybe someone with experience with this bloodline could chime in.

Any other advise, guys? I like the body and the tail tube. With my very limited knowledge I'd think it has potential to grow nicely.

I'm indeed worried about the beni as inazuma pointed out...

The picture is too fuzzy to tell conclusively skin and beni quality but I agree with the comment about beni being a concern. From the beni edge, It looks hard and peaked. The body looks good.

      Update

An update half a year later...

It is now 53ish cm (20"), did not really care to pose for a picture when I measured it. Might have something to do with my terrible, terrible measuring tub

Here's a video of the same koi in the pond...

The good news is, beni did not shrink. As long as the beni holds, it is a nice kohaku with good overall quality.

      Another update.

Left picture from January 2018, right picture six months earlier (June 2017). Growth was a few centimeters over the summer, but it bulked up some. Not entirely unexpected since summer temperatures in my outdoor pond are 19 to 21 degrees C compared to all year temperatures of 23 at the dealerís.

The most recent picture was taken at dusk so it yellower than it should be.

I like it, only thing I seen is maybe the head looks small (narrow) but overall I like the koi

to me the head is way to narrow and for far to long at first and was nothing. narrow at the the tip of head still but otherwise filled out nicely
