      Sakai Kohaku

Hi, my family just got this nisai kohaku from the online auction at pan intercorp. It has been at my house for a couple day. My intuition is telling me that it is a male because of the pec fins, body line, and feeding habits. Here is my evaluation

Body: Overall it is a pretty good body line. The head, in my opinion, is in the right shape. The tail tube could be bigger.

Skin Quality: It is homogeneous all the way through so I think it will stay nice. The Sashi is nice with it being one scale deep. The Kiwa seems ok. Not the best but not the worst.

Pattern: It is a big fish pattern so I think it will look better on the fish as it grows.

Please give your comments, questions, and concerns about this Kohaku.

Looks good to me! Personally the tail tube would not worry me if the growth is good? by that I mean that if the koi is growing well the effort is put into growing and frame rather than muscle at the tail tube! But if it is not growing well is a area for concern. (Standing by to be shot down!) The pattern will shrink as the koi gets volume so it will be set off by the shiro. My only concern is the fins look slightly out but that could be the photo? FWIW

I had concerns about the fins to but they turned out fine. The kohaku is a great eater... one of the first up so hopefully the body can improve. Thanks for the feedback niceshowa!

It is a typical frame for SFF but their best bodies, the bodies like the Kohaku that took Jumbo Champion at the 2016 AJKS start out like the body next to your Kohaku. The better frame is more of an even flow from the front to the back.
