      sick koi

This koi has had a slightly raised scale and developed the white film you see. He was fine, eating weeks ago, once I stopped he was fine along with the others. This afternoon he was at the bottom swirling around. I had added filtration back again to the pond earlier. He's now in a tub with aeration. All of my parameters I will copy and post in a minute. water temp is 34

He's very listless. Looked like he was dead but when I touched him he started moving again. Any suggestions as to what I can continue to do I would greatly appreciate. Thank you

You know you have too many fish already. You said you put filtration back. Was it off? Did it get cold suddenly? What temp is he in right now

He's inside now in a bin with aeration. Will be warming up slowly to indoor temp. He's upright now, but still on bottom. Bin way too small for him but for tonight best I can do. Tomorrow I'll set up 100gal tank in basement. Still not big enough for him for the winter, but right now, at least better than bin. Once I set up tank, I'll bring in another fish that I think needs attention also.

And yes, I really do know I have way too many fish. Will attempt to fix that asap. Haven't checked temp but by now I'm thinking it's got to be near 40 or more. Need to bring in more water from pond, so will bring in buckets to warm up to same temp he's in. And for the past 2 days it was pretty warm out-no ice on pond, but last night it dropped past freezing and ice was back on pond.

I did turn off my pumps/filter because it could so easily freeze. And if it does, I'm not in a situation for purchase replacements. Next year I'm going to build a cover for it, maybe one I can sit under would be ideal. However, so much is on hold as I might be in NC in 2018. Then all of this pond building will start all over again, but THIS time I'll do it RIGHT!!! And build a huge holding tank cause they're all going with me! and ducks, cats, dogs and parrots.

Any advice you can give me Cindy is welcomed. Thank you

For right now you are doing the right thing. Plenty of air and let the temp come up. He is going to need water changes because he will secrete ammonia. Be sure to use a binder and cover the tank so he can't jump

The fish pictured has been in the house 3 days. I want to move it to a QT I now have set up. The PH match, temp OK, but if the KH in pond water is 178.6 and the QT tank is 142.88 is it OK to make the switch? I won't make the move until I hear back. Thanks

Additionally- the PH that matches is 7.8

Absolutely. Differences in KH are not important, if the pH is the same.
