    ogon or matsabu?

well this fish was more platinum ogon when I got it pure white and has faded and gained more metallic scaling. hard for me to tell if ogon or matsabu.

Are we looking at the yellow metallic ogon or one of them red and white ones?

this is my yamabuki. I think this platinum ogon had been through alot of bad conditions and it Faded out. with the scaling though not sure if it's consideredoable a weak ogon or matsabu. I'm thinning down my herd and want the lower quality .

this was a very nice fish that the person said they got from champion koi. problem is this fish is 4 years old and not much growth. I'm aware my feeding habits aren't up to par. but other koi have grown alot better.

thanks for the help and just trying to learn

There are several shades of yellow a Yamabuki can have. In fact, the lighter they are at an early age, the better chance you stand of having one that won't get so dark yellow and develop orange speckles. Your other is a darker Yamabuki. This one looks like it may have lost it's light yellow due to poor conditions/insufficient sun and it's now coming back. But, I would have to agree, the color does look more Mukashi at this point. Time for a re-home for both of those!

not trYing to stir up stuff. the fish in the first pic seems platinum ogon or matsabu. the 2nd pic Is either Dark and pour yamabuki or poor orengi from what I see. I'm just saying what I've seen and how the fish started out. one was platinum ogon, other was yamabuki and got darker. thanks for all info. I will post my fish for serious critique soon, as I have a monster breed dianichi that seem to be developing very well

I don't like my dark yamabuki , but I like the ogon..I agree though both fish will be rehomed. I want a good home for them and the person to rehome must provide pics of pond and what filtration they are running. these are my original fish and hard to let go. but time has come. shoot the yamabuki I have I won in a raffle nick holquin supplied. that's is nother story there lol

This is what gets some folks upset. You ask for info, you get two responses from Pros who say the same thing, basically, and then you want to argue/disagree. If you still feel it's a platinum ogon or a matsuba, post a better pic.

I don't mean to come off this way. I will try to bowl this fish. I honestly don't know what a Mukashi Ogon is. I'm trying to learn and not criticize. Maybe I can off a different way. I apologize for this

Google Mukashi Ogon images. I don't see any of the black in the center of the scales, of a matsuba.
