      Please critique this Kohaku

This fish was listed as Dianichi x JR offspring. She was probably the poorest of the 3 I bid on (did not get the other 2). I know red eye is not good and no white tail stop. She was listed as female, born in 2015, and is 15.75 inches. I see the light area on back, but hope it will be a separation of the steps and not a fading Kohaku. I only paid $240 for her.

      Give me your thoughts.

Well. Nancy, for the price you did really well. Again, for the price point. Looking at the pec fins this one doesn't give me confidence in being female, but things could improve there. The overall body conformation is not too shabby. The skin looks okay, especially for the price point. The color is also decent. If you're referring to the "lighter" color on the shoulder between the two steps, I think it will remain as a single step pattern. The rest of the blurriness is sashi which at this age is fine as long as it is at the front of each pattern indentation/break. It looks fine to me at this point. The tail break is also fine, though the difference in the break on this fish and a really high quality fish is probably a few grand in cost as well as the "red" eye which to some is bothersome. If both eyes were red or white it would be much better balanced, but again, for the price, you did really well!

So, do it. That's a really good price for a fish like that.
