Just had my first and last experience with Blackwater Creek koi. Ordered a very nice (I think so anyway) ginrin benigoi butterfly and spoke with them SEVERAL time about making sure it arrived at my office on Friday. I planned on taking a half day to make sure it was properly acclimated. It arrived today (Thursday) instead. I am currently away from the office out on a contract and won't be able to leave until 6. My office friends are currently caring for it. I am livid. I'm supposed to be working, not dealing with this HUGE mistake, as are my fellow employees. I called and complained and basically all I got was "well if it dies, we will reimburse you", that's horrible! My coworkers are so worried, they ran to Petco to get a larger container and a bubbler to keep it comfortable. I then have to have a co-worker take it home since the office closes before I get off my contact and pick it up. This is a nightmare! Anyone else have you horror stories to share? I will never buy from them again, that's for sure!
I haven't ordered from them in a long time but have never had any issues.
I know its a little too late, but your office mates should have just left the fish in the box and not unpacked it.
It would've been fine until you picked it up this even...maybe even better off.
Never ordered from Blackwater only Kodama and Grand Koi and both of those vendors called me before packing the fish just to confirm I was ready to receive them the next day.
Well, that sucks. I ordered from them a month ago and things went smoothly, they arrived safe and healthy. BUT... the next day after my scheduled order arrived, another box appeared. They messed up and doubled my order. Basically they said, we can't take them back, Happy Birthday. So I got a free order! I was very happy with the quality....for the price I paid. I knew I would not get fish for "serious critique" but they were actually better quality than I expected. While this was a mistake on their part, I would give them another shot, if you see a fish or package you like.
Rain- I agree, I even told the employee to leave it in the bag with the pure oxygen in the bag but they didn't listen. It's a beautiful fish and seems to be no worse for wear, i think I just took the brunt of the stress.
I've always had good servicce fr om Blackwater. Fish arrived exactly on time, and were healthy and active. I'm sorry you didn't have the same experience.
