Is this idea o.k. For turtles?

I am in the process of making a water Lilly pond. It will be 5x5x2 ft. It will have about 6 lilies. When I went to the pond store to buy another Lilly I saw that they had some turtles in the pond. It is not much bigger than what I have. Is it practicle to have a turtle or two in this sized pond? I have a pump and pressure filter rated for 700glns if there is filtration needed. I am also worried about raccoons. There have been some seen in the area so I am sure they are around. In addition to a sunning rock would a koi castle help make a he turtle happy and safe? If it is not a good idea I can let it go and just have a Lilly pond, but if I could give a turtle a nice home in addition that would be great. Please advise.

Turtles will eat your water lilies or any other plants that are in the pond. Plus they will leave your pond unless you have a fence to keep them in. Raccoons may be a problem. I have a full grown Peninsula Cooter Turtle and they put a lot of waste out. I would love for mine to be outside in my pond, but I know that wouldn't work with my lilies and I don't want a fence around the pond either.

In addition to the above, PLEASE DO NOT RELEASE PETS INTO THE WILD!!! If you decide to get a turtle and it doesn't work out, please rehome it.

To both Nancy and Tinyfisher, thanks for the advice. It was originally intended to just be a Lilly pond and that is what it will be. Should I decide on turtles at some later time I will be sure to research it and make sure it is a proper and safe home for them.
