      Evolution ESS series pump questions

I'm just wanting a few questions answered to those that have or are currently using these pumps.

I'm a little confused as to why this pump is better than the ES series. I can't seem to find any in depth discussion on this matter, so I figured by asking my questions it might help some others as well as newer ponders determine if it is good for them.

I currently have 2 ES5500 pumps. I never really heard them over my waterfalls but as far as Noise,

how much louder or quieter is this pump? Is there a way to muffle the sound? Without overheating the pump? I have a very quiet neighborhood and hollow property walls made of cinder block so all noise seems to travel through these blocks. Kind of like the tin can phones with string. Lol

Mike and Zac suggested the ESS6400 for me when I was looking for a pump to run my zakki sieve. Because everything is raised on a deck (instead of in pit) I needed a higher head pump and they said the ESS6400 should do the trick. Even with the head of pulling through the sieve and the high head of feeding the (2) 55 gal filter barrels w/ only 2'' line both in and out on pump I can still max out my sieve at 4500 plus GPH, I am very happy with that.
The front wall facing pond of filter shed has a 2 tier waterfall on it so I do have waterfall noise but, I literally have to open shed door and be within a couple feet of pump to hear if its running, I cant ask for quieter than that.

Pic below is before shed was finished.

The ESS series line of pumps are "medium head/duty" units. They have a large leaf trap incorporated into the wet end. The wet end is the same Waterways unit used on several brands of motors built by others. The impellers and strength of motor provides a stronger torque to flow a higher volume of water at a higher head pressure than a standard centrifugal pump can do. I would never install a standard centrifugal pump on a client's pond, especially if using a pressurized filter like an Ultima or MC-50 unit.

The ES is a low head/high volume pump.
The ESS is a medium head/medium volume pump.
Also the ESS is a self priming pump where as the ES in not self priming.
Back in the old days the ESS had a much better motor than the ES pumps, not so anymore. Now they both use the same EVO motor. A Marathon copy mady purely for Advantage Man. A very good, quiet motor.

It's not that one is better than the other, but they are designed for different applications.

I have been very happy with my ESBB10500 pumps. Going on 10 hears old and no issues yet.
One will be needing a rebuild soon, as it has a small seal leak, but that is a simple job on these guys.
Here they both sit in my filter room.
