      Korean bonsai

Was at the Damyang bamboo festival near Gwangju, Korea. I stumbled across this amazing bonsai contest and took a few photos. These definitely weren't owned by beginners. Breathtaking.....

I wish I had taken pics of all of them, many more. These 2 were about 3 feet tall. It's hard to tell the size from the pics.

I wish the pictures showed the overall size of these. The contest winner with the ribbon pic is at least 3 feet across. It had to have taken 2-3 people to carry these in. They looked very heavy.

Fantastic- some really fine cultivation has gone into those specimens.

Here are some more I ran across on Jeju island, South Korea. The second one is 250 years old! Astounding specimens in the park we visited. More to come.

A couple more. The first one is 300 years old and the second is only 150 years old. These must be passed down from generation to generation. The pics really don't do them justice.

Those are inspiring, I hope I get my kids interested enough in mine to pass them on to them and they will carry on trying to get anywhere close to something like that

Thanks so much for posting. I took private Bonsai lessons for about a year from a pro in the area. Very difficult and frustrating hobby. I have large amounts of respect for anyone that is able to partake in this hobby at any level.
Again, beautiful pics and thanks for sharing.

The pictures do not capture just how spectacular these were. When I go back this spring I will try to get some more pics. Enjoy
