Will turtle claws cut or damage a pond liner?

Will turtle claws damage a pond liner? I've added a bunch or rocks to try to keep the claws physically separated from the liner because I'm concerned it'll get a hole in it. Does anyone have experience with that? I'm trying to remove most of the rocks now but I don't know if I need to protect the liner.

We have a RES that has been in our pond for 3 years. No issues with the liner. She is hard on plants but worth it for the entertainment value.

No-one ever says my liner has been OK for more than a few years with a turtle. I'm going to continue to try to protect it from claw damage.
