      Cool My First Orchid Rebloom!

I have tried growing 9 different orchid plants, killed 6 plants and managed to keep only 3 alive. This year 2 of them are forming buds as of last month and my first set of reblooming orchids opened this month! (Now if only I had success with Jade plants and Hens and Chick succulents here in Florida...to humid)

      Congratulations it looks beautiful!
The brown stem that it bloomed on last year can be cut off now.

My Mom has problems keeping hers alive. She hates the look of the aerial roots and cuts them off. Then once the plant starts going down hill, she gives it to me.

Oh, Lol I didn't know I was supposed to cut the old stem off, haha. Thanks! Also, when I replanted it into this hanging basket I realized that the basket was a little small. Thought I could replant when a larger basket was available but they roots have grown through and around the weave. I don't want to have to cut it out of the basket and damage roots. Is it like a staghorn fern where you just let it grow bigger and it outgrows its basket and be becomes a hanging ball of roots and leaves?

Once the flowers drop off the stem, in time, most of the stems will die & turn drown. Once they are brown, I cut them off close to the base of the plant. Sometimes a stem will stay green until next Spring and it will re-bloom on it. So as long as it is green, I leave them on.
Looks like you have two brown stems that could be removed.

I have not had a Staghorn fern, but yes the roots will grow very long through the basket. Some of my orchids have roots 12 to 18 inches long.
On the day you water, you could also spray mist the aerial roots. I feed my Orchids every other time I water. I let the water that I use, sit for 24 to 48 hours to remove the chlorine and become room temp. or I use declor. I feel inside & on top of the moss or wood chips to see if it is dry. They would rather be on the dry side than to be to wet.
It is hard to tell the size of your basket, but it looks fine. They would rather be to crowded than in a pot with to much room.
Whenever you re-pot, always do it after all of the blooms have fallen off.

Your Orchid looks great. I hope it does well for you.
      Nancy
