      Yambuki Ogon

I purchased this last may at a show, at the time there was another larger fish for sale in the more expensive vat but I kept coming back to this one because of its light color and sheen on the skin, Well I think its coming along well and seems to have a female shape? Seems to be growing well and from what I can tell has some hoshi in the fukurin? Thanks for looking. pics have reflections, it's not easy getting good pics thats for sure.

This one looks more like a lower quality Lemon Hariwake. There's too many areas of white on the shoulder and head.

Some updated pics, it's hard to tell by the glare but the fish continues to improve and the color is good, I don't see much white at all in it, the head is clean and skin still has sheen to it... size is 18" tried to sex the fish but was inconclusive...

Very nice, it is doing what it is supposed to do. I come across Yamabuki like these all the time but don't pick them up because no one believes that this is what they will become. In fact, several years ago, I was looking for one for someone and Toshio Sakai offered me a large Nisai Yamabuki(it was amazing), at a very low price, and the response I got was "I am looking for something with more yellow". I explained that it would change and become what they wanted but to no avail.

I don't like "now" koi. The longer it takes to develop, the longer they'll last.

Yes, but many don't understand that.

      Update

Pulled the pond this October, greatly increased the feed rate this summer and shows in the body of the herd... the yambuki is somewhat small for it's age at the end of three years old 24" 61 cm... may have to move her along, wanting a 100 cm yami...
