Two years old @55cm by Hoshikin. Andy Moo said dainichi parents , good genetic and will growth over 30" out of my pond no problem. What are your though on her? I'm putting her on diet this winter for a while, seems like she got some fat build up there.

I liked the frame before reading the comment about Andy's prediction on the final size. The skin and beni look nice also.

That kind of belly is hard to loose. It goes back again once the koi is fed again for some time. 30 inch is still possible though. Hopefully the beni issue on the shoulders can be covered by some sumi.

The belly is alway more patient and time here.
Yeah that underlayment beni is the disadvantage but it is a good deal because of this.

I give it 51% chance that the underlying beni will be covered up by thickening skin.

Over all, this is an interesting fish with good potential.

I agree with ur assessment. Any concern with the mouth? I look closely at her this morning when she danced through and kinda of see a light scar on the upper lip area.

      recent pics

the last time i took her picture was oct 2016 and terrible video.
      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fQkaQemQfV8
maybe i will bowl her again when weather get warmer.

She is slightly over 24". Did not grow in length but maybe lot of eggs.
This fish is kind of funny. She was nisai when i got her straight from japan. She already show her stomach at the time. i asked Andy and he did not think that was eggs. So i only feed my herd very little in spring to Until mid of May. Her stomach didnot reduce much. By this time after the growth season she is bulkier and conformation is bad due to more eggs. I'm trying to reduce my feed significant this spring and see how she will turn out. Any advice what i should do for the next coming season?

Anyway her beni is not best as it was due to some freckle now (my hard water). Iam patiently waiting for sumi to rise ...my first prize showa.

It is a nice showa. I especially like the skin.

Some koi seem to have looser tummy and will always look more eggy.

In all seriousness - just don't feed her for a month in the summer. It'll straighten her lines right out.

I found this out through one of my accidental genius moments when my filter died.

You're still feeding too soon. That's why the energy she got from the food went straight to the eggs, not growth. Feeding lightly until around the end of June works much better. You mentioned that Andy didn't think it was eggs, did he mention what he thought it was. To me it looks like a tumor or egg impaction.

I felt the area every time I bowled her, very soft
She just looks that way forever, last year I fed pretty light until water hits 70F like yes last week of June
Everyone else got leaned except her I will try 8 weeks “fast” starting this year and see how thing goes

What is YOUR definition of feeding lightly. Not being confrontational here but everyone has differing definitions of some things and I want to make sure we're on the same page.

Late December through April I fed once 15grams every other day at least to keep them from line up on the floor
      May to June 1x a day 15grams
      June-July 2x a day
July -August slowly increase the amount up to 10x 25grams each
I’m doing pretty good control myself on the feeding..
