I use hydrogen peroxide. 8 ounces per 1,000 gallons. I do it every week without issue.

Sources are amazon.com and chemistrystore.com for a couple of sites.

If you're planning on using PP, please read up on it. It is a dangerous chemical, both to you and your fish. If you use it inappropriately, you can kill your fish or blind yourself. It's also a "watched" or controlled chemical by the DEA, so buying it in large quantities puts you on a list somewhere, I'm sure. I'm pretty sure I'm on more than one. on the other hand, if you know what you're doing, and use it in the correct manner, you're fine. You need to know your exact gallons, and the amount you need for the purpose you're treating.

Don't waste money on magical additives. You will be better off with doing more frequent water changes and/or increase the capacity of the bio media. .

When I get water that is discolored or has foam being created by DOC's, I PP the pond at 2 ppm, and then add HP the next day at 1 cup per thousand gallons (8 oz.), Its amazing how fast the tea color in the water goes away. If you follow a regiment of PP and HP you can maintain clean/clear water. I do not however think this is the best for the fish especially in the spring when lots of different environmental forces are at work. This may differ greatly depending on too many variables like climate zones and pond conditions to name just a few. Using PP, it is essential know your ponds volume. If you have a small pond (under 2000 gallons) the table spoon method of measuring the dosage of PP may not be accurate enough especially if you are guessing at the true volume in the pond. Visually monitoring your fish and having Sodium Thiosulfate (Vitamin C) on hand if needed is highly recommended.

      Dave:

May I ask why you would use Vitamin C when discussing PP? Did you mean ST = Sodium Thiosulfate for the reversal of PP?

Sodium Thiosulfate is a form of vitamin C.

I did not know that ST was a form of Vit. C. I know it as ascorbic acid. However you called it Thiosodium Sulfate in your original posting. No such thing that I could find.

Thank you for correcting your original post.

I have never seen or heard this before. Sodium Thiosulfate has many uses, the one we most often use it for is dechlorination, and neutralizing PP treatments, but it is also used in photography, mining, health, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sodium_thiosulfate. Sodium metabisulphite is used as a stabilizer in orange juice, but it is not orange juice, and is not thiosulfate.
