Nice offer Bill. It might be fun to see how the strips compare to measured amounts and after the first or second hour as it is consumed.

Great! It would have been there sooner if it hadn't been for Columbus day.

Mixing pp with water, and using test strips to measure the amount of pp in the pond.

Does this Sen Safe product explain how to mix pp with water? Or is it only for testing? I am confused as how to measure the pp and water.
      Can you help?
      Thanks,
      Karen

The test strips just tell you how much active PP is in the pond. If you are using PP for parasite eradication, you want to maintain a concentration of about 2ppm for at least 4 hours. The organics in the pond will be consuming the PP so it is constantly losing potency if you are not adding more as you go. Initial addition, good starting place, is one gram per 100 gallons of pond. Then test to see where you are and make additions as needed. You can go as high as 3ppm, so don't be too upset if the value is slightly over the 2, but try to keep it close to 2ppm. Do not do the treatment within 2 days of using a dechlor, as dechlor will still be active and neutralizes the PP. Hydrogen peroxide also neutralizes the PP. I do use the hydrogen peroxide once the PP is spent to clear the pond, it will make the water very clear and pretty. Some don't like to use HP to neutralize PP as the ORP values are opposite and they think the change in ORP can shock the fish, though I have never experienced that. If the level of PP is back to near zero, then the ORP is not high. For the HP, I use one quart of common drug store variety HP per 1000 gallons.
