      Lemon Balm Is Evil :)

A friend of mine, who passed away a couple years ago, gave me a small leaf of lemon balm to "smell". Silly me! I
went home and put it in the ground. I now have lemon balm everywhere!!! I think of her every time I see it or" smell it", but
enough is enough. I just came in from spraying...hopefully, it will kill most of it.

Anyone else have this problem..thank goodness when it is new it is easy to pull out, but some of it is well rooted and doesn't
want to budge!! I found all kinds of plants that were covered by it. I'm hoping that I didn't kill anything else.

Sorry Pam. I have never had lemon balm. I think most all mints are invasive. Might make a good container plant.

Yeah it sure can be invasive, especially where it rains in the summer.

I planted some here years ago but it never got invasive as it's in a non-irrigated area with clay soil. I would water it about once a month in summer. Now it hasn't has a drop of water from April until November for the last 5-6 summers, and not much in the winter these last 3 years and it's only one 6" sprig now. It's just biding it's time...lol.

Nancy/Barb...well, it must love Tennessee. I planted the "one" leaf under the dogwood by the wall to my old pond. It covered the ground and went over
the wall to the otherside...then followed the wall around. I should have dealt with it long ago, but didn't want to part with it since it was from a "beloved"
friend. But, I'm sure she would understand (since she warned me about it) but I thought "how much harm can one leaf be"? Little did I know

Thanks for the replies. Have a blessed day!

I used to grow it in a container so it was no problem. Loved the scent of it. Many times I'd put a few leaves in tea.

Yep it is when it is "new" Cindy. I found a snowball bush under it and a crepe mrytle (small but underneath). Hopefully, the
spraying will control it. And it does smell wonderful, but very invasive.
