Thought I'd post updated photos of four of the better ones from the 2015 showa spawn. They are nearly 3 years old now. I have re-homed a lot already and have a total of ten remaining.

First up, I like the layout of the dark sumi on this female showa (19”), but not the body shape which is heavy toward the front.

This showa (~17”) has a better shape and a good mix of the colors. However, the sumi is not arranged that well in my view.

This male kohaku (~20”) was one of the tobi, and obviously does not have a traditional pattern. I know the red in the base of the pectoral and caudel fins is a no-no, but I kind of like it. It would be better without the random small spots, though I still like him with the large red areas.

Lastly, this shiro utsuri (~16”), which I think is a female, has a little speck of orange just right of her dorsal, that doesn't bother me. Perhaps a little to plump, but I like the how dark the sumi is compared to the white, a contrast that is better than all of the other utsuri from this spawn.

Thanks Steve. I had to pull out my Ausi-Okie translational dictionary to see what "spew" meant in this context. Though not involved with this spawn, here are the female and male asagi last summer. The female was locally bred by a lady that specialized in asagi. I named the male "Yax' after an ancient Mayan king. That was because I bought him on 12-21-2012, the day the Mayan calendar ended. So he commemorates the doomsday predictions not coming to pass.

Thanks Mike. If it were textbook, it might be the only thing around here that was . When this one was younger, I thought it might be male, but now when I see the abdominal weight extending behind the caudel fins, I am thinking this shiro utsuri may be a girl. Maybe I'll be able to tell better by summer.
