Thread: Pump choice? Sequence 4200 or Elite ELT19?

Pump choice? Sequence 4200 or Elite ELT19?

I can obtain both pumps for the same price. Both are fairly equal in terms of flow and power consumption according to manufacturer specs. However, I understand that Elite pumps are perhaps a bit more realistic in their flow specs. I've read great reviews on both manufacturers but I am more familiar with Sequence pumps due to my own personal saltwater aquarium experience in the past.
If you had to choose, which one would you go with? This pump will be the main pump running a 2250 gallon pond. I estimate a 6 foot head height for the waterfall and 3 TPR's coming off the pump.
Is there perhaps a better pump I should consider? Energy efficiency is a priority.
      Thanks for the advice.

I am also in the same boat. Looking for the best "Bang for the buck" in terms of power efficiency, warranty, and flow. Sorry I can't comment on your question =)

Billy responded via PM and states both are great pumps, but he recommended the Sequence over the Elite due to better customer service reviews (he sells both).
Unless someone can recommend a more efficient pump, I'll be ordering the Sequence 4200.

I have the Elite 800 series platinum 4600 pump. I love that it is so quiet you dont know its running, energy efficient, price was good and 4 yr warrenty. I do not care for the fact that its a 2'' intake but only 1.5'' out. Also with mine I think that anything after 4-5' head you lose a large amount of gph.

I cant compare to sequence because I never had one.

I will be looking for my 2nd pump very soon also to replace an old one.

      Good luck

Have you looked at the Evolution pumps? The ES 4500 only draws 187 watts. And comes with the best warranty going. PM me for more info if you want.

My 2nd pump will most likely be the ES, I need to get the Zakki sieve hooked up first to see if the Elite 4600 is big enough for it after head loss. If not then it will go on the skimmer circuit and I'll get the ES 5500 for the sieve. Hopefully within the next couple weeks I'll know what I need.

While you can get away with an ES model using a Zakki Sieve, it's preferred, and recommended by Zac to use a self priming, medium head pump like the ESS series, either a 5200 or 6400 depending on total dynamic head within the system. In your case Deb, I'd go with the 5200. There's so little difference in price between the two, if you have ideas of adding anymore filtration or want to simply increase the flow up to the max capacity of the sieve (45+gph), you could go to the 6400 and pinch it down a bit.
