If Your using the Seaside 44% protein food , that's the one that is putting on the best growth for Me and My Friends.
But don't feed too much , I still want to win.

Not necessarily. If they are surface shimi you should be able to just scrape them off with your fingernail. No scales lost. If they're deep rooted, well, then, MS222 and use a pointed scalpel and use the tip like a drill bit, That's how Toshio Sakai fixed a Kohaku during one of our trips.

Why would you want to ruin a sanke?

I think this fish has very nice skin and soft beni. He is a keeper.

I scrape the shimi spots off and they reappear in a couple of months so I just tell myself they're evolving.

I thought shimis only happen on the beni?
My kohaku developed several ugly ones; a couple pretty large. I believe two episodes of green water took care of them, now I have none
Mitch yours are pretty small. Not even noticeable.

The only malady that's related strictly to the beni is Hikkui disease. Shimi are usually caused by poor water and melanin in the skin/genetic of the fish.

I notice the shimi just about this year. Yeah still tiny so I will leave em alone

Over the years I’ve owned quiet many kohaku
      Most of them developed shimi
I can’t provide them soft water
Genetics I agree but....poor water yes that cause fade beni and I haven’t experience that for a while.
I do the best I can for the koi
Well sanke or Showa from now then

I like it. I think it balances the beni on the head.
I wonder if it would count as a step.
