Trying to find good quality large pellet food

Most of my fish are on the large size,(>30") and I would like to find a good quality, reasonably price, large pelle koi food. I hate the medium sized pellets, and don't kill me, I actually feed them the occasional dog food pellet which they love. The big fish always go straight for that first. I know it's bad, so I would like to have a better option. I've been looking on Different sites, but all I can find is small or medium pellets. I only need a small bag, as I only have 4 koi, (and about 15 babies which WILL be rehomed this year) and I still have about 20 lbs of medium pellets. I was actually thinking about trying to convert that into a larger pellet, somehow.

      Thanks for suggestions

      Nancy

One of the reasons you can only find small and medium pellets is that there is less waste, even with large koi, with the medium pellets than there is with the large pellets. Large koi can swallow the medium pellets with no problem, but they have to chew the large pellets, and the crumbs are expelled through the gills rather than being swallowed.

Hikari makes a few of their foods in large pellet form, Kenzen has a 7mm pellet, and Tomigai has large pellet, All of these are in the higher side price range but at the same time you get more from the food, less waste by product, therefore ended up feeding less per feeding to get the same nutritional value or better to the Koi.

Thanks for all the suggestions; most of the sites I've looked at are sold out of the large pellets, or they only make it in the medium or small. I did look at Drs fosters and smith, only medium pellets for most of their foods, except color enhancing, which I don't need. I usually soak the food, so the koi have an easier time. The bigger fish don't compete as well with their babies for the food, as they move much more slowly through the water, although, from their size, they're not starving. however, I don't want to pay $70 for a 20 lb bag of food! I don't need a 40 lb bag, as I've never gone through that much in a season, ever. I usually end up throwing away food. I thought if I just give a mixture of medium and large pellets, everyone would get what they need.

      http://www.dreampond.com/ has Ocean Star International,
OSI "All Season Growth", in large pellets, an 11lb bag.
This is what I use, the fish love it, it doesn't cloud the water and I think it's fairly reasonable considering the ingredients. No corn.

Dream Pond used to be Fancy Koi Outlet, FKO, they changed their name a while ago, but same nice folks. They also sell hydroponic supplies. http://www.dreampond.com/koi-food/osi.html

This is VERY GOOD ADVICE! I've found this to be very true and haven't fed "large" pellets to my fish for many years now.
