This is weird, but... something pooped all over my pond

Wondering if anyone can help me figure out what visited my pond yesterday/this morning.

The pond has been set up since the end of last summer and I have never seen one of these spots of poo before on any of the rocks. There was no poo on the rocks yesterday at mid-day. So between then and this morning, something came and pooped on almost every single rock surrounding the pond. I only have two small goldfish in the pond, and I haven't seen them in weeks (I believe they are hunkered down at the bottom) so I don't know if I'm missing anything, and even if I am, its not like anything got enough food to warrant all this poo.

Does this look like it could belong to some kind of bird looking for food? Or maybe just a rodent looking for water?

That much, I'd guess birds. If its rodents, you have an infestation

Looks like Canada geese poop. They are active all year long, and look for open water. Have you seen any in your area?

Think geese would be more splattered looking. Looks like Raccoon or Possum to me. Maybe a whole little family of them..............

Canada geese poop up here looks like about two-inch long half-inch in diameter cylinders, not splattered at all. Usually green/brown or green/black. There are a ton of them around here, even in the winter (all over the harvested corn fields.)

It also looks like turkey poop we get around here.

Hedge hogs, looks like your in for a few more weeks of winter, mean while we're basking in warmth and completely dry out here on the west coast.

Buy a trail cam, you'll know for sure.

What ever it is they sure did mark their territory.

      Lobster,
Do you have much buckthorn in your area? The berries are mildly toxic, but in a pinch during the worst part of winter they will get eaten but critters of all types. From squirrels, possums and coon to robins, turkeys and crows.
If I saw that around my pond I would guess starlings. But I don't know the birds of your region. Likely a flocking midsize bird that is getting ready to travel on.

I suppose you could try google images for other varieties ...

It's much smaller than goose poop. Hopefully whatever it is was looking for water, not food, and will not be leaving this mess often.

Looks like frog poo! Does it have insects mixed into it? If it does then it is frog poo. They do that all around my pond too, and usually in the morning.

On second thought never mind I didn't see the snow in the background. I will be curious to hear what you find out. You might have to set up one of those deer cameras to find out what it is.

Can't tell, but those look smaller than geese droppings. If that is true, the vast number and shape/size resemble what gets left behind when a group of Starlings come to visit for a drink/bath. I had those a few times, left similar results.
