      Both are world class fish. I am not sure which I like more..... I think the tancho has the better build. it looks more powerful and the shiroji is more crisp and has a snow white glow to it. For some reason, and I could be off base, but the 4 step kohaku looks like a male... a really good one at that. The pattern is awesome, and the maruten step adds an interesting touch. Generally a sharp corner on a beni plate located on the head is an indication of breaking beni, but I don't think this applies to this fish. It looks like strong and stable beni. Not one actual critique on either of these fish.

      I think the Taniguchi has superior skin and beni. My concern for her is that when she gains even more bulk, is she going to look short?

      The Dainichi has above average skin but it just doesn't look like a long term Koi to me. The beni is a bit hard and looks thinner at some spots.

      @bro inazuma
      thx for the compliment
      i think the kohaku more likely female and the tancho is a male
      in term of skin quality kohaku will be better in future compared to the tancho, yes the beni is looking yellow right now, but i think thats normal since i dont feed my fish color food at all

      @bro dalotz
      i feed them kenkokanri hisilk about 6 times a day
      to make fish bulk is not so hard you just need feed them more assuming the fish not a shy eater (got a local breed karashi that transform like crazy in 2 months)
      the hard part of koi husbandry is maintain quality of the fish while they growing (i think )

      @bro abuchi
      no i think he/she will not be look short in body proportion...but i rarely see more than 80cm taniguchi koi, so still crossing finger
      i think the kohaku has a more better skin than the tancho in future but lets see for another 5-6 months

      @bro Han

      From the pictures, the Taniguchi looks to have thicker skin but pictures can be deceiving. I trust your assessment that the Dainichi has better skin. Do keep us posted about both fish's development.
