I had to replace my first ones after a year so the next ones (on the advice of Norm Walsh)
I drilled a hole in the motor case at the bottom so any moisture could drain out, and put
silicon around where the plunger meets the case. They've last over 2 years now.
This actuator is pretty pricey to have to replace every year or two. Where do you put the hole in the motor housing; got a photo of that? And how exposed are yours? I plan to line the underneath of the deck with left-over rubber liner and channel the rain away from the actuator. If I get this right, it should only see high humidity and no direct contact with rainwater.
