      Blue Eco Drum Filter

Looks like Alibaba and Made in China are listing the AquaScience Blue Eco water powered drum filter for sale.

Looks like the contract manufacture is making a few extra pieces to sell for $$$.

I wonder if the US importer will sell cheaper than Alibaba? This is a lot more expensive than I thought it would be.

No contract mfg as this is directly from Aquascience China through importer Alibaba.

The drum has been available from Ali Baba for quite a while. According to Jtarr00, the man behind BE had (has) a limited plan for import to N. America. I know he is working on a marketing plan, and I believe he was heading overseas to visit the production facilities last week. Up until late August, the drum filter had no official name. They decided to add the BE name at that time. I've not received and pricing info at this time.

This is the first I have seen open pricing from Alibaba on the drum filter. Before you had to contact them for pricing. It will be interesting to see what the US price will be from jtarr00.

Don't know what size or the flow rate is for these new RDFs but the price is not bad for SS version vs ProfiDrum RDF. The question is how reliable are these and which hobbyists can you talk to that had used these to get feed back.
For the ProfiDrum, I did research for over 16 months and got a lot of positive feedback from European users before my friends and I bought 6 large Profidrum RDF units.

The filter is rated for 15 thousand gallons per hour. As far as price is concerned, by rule, vendors are not permitted to discuss this information in main forum threads. I will be posting that information in the Marketplace shortly.

This new type of RDF has some nice innovative features that are not seen on other established brands but is new to the market. Time will tell how it serves the koi hobbyist, interested to see the progress in this thread. Anyone found success stories or reference cases?

ps I have changed this post as it could be read other than the statement it does not have a large installed base which is not the intention of the post.

Eric, could you provide links to the fail cases in Europe? I'm seriously considering an RDF for my new pond.

If you are in Riverside County then you can check out my 2 Profidrum RDfs for my 12,000 gallon pond. So far I got no problem since the installation and enjoying the pond a lot more with about maintenance. The Pond is 6.5' deep, pictures were taken in the summer and you can actually see head or tail on a coint.

Blue Eco like most pond products are marketed with a lot of hype and bull. Difficult to get reviews using measured data. The pumps have very controversial output ratings for the type of motor and pump construction. The drum filter looks good on the surface but only time and reviews from consumers independent from marketing will yield trusted reviews.

This post has been edited to remove the quote of EricW that appeared in post #9 as he has since changed that post to remove the misinformation that was contained in it.

I encourage anyone who's interested in purchasing an RDF to do to their own due diligence but be mindful of a pattern that's quickly developing that any thread regarding the Blue-Eco RDF is being used an opportunity to promote the Profidrum.

I would like readers to also be aware poster "EricW"*, who made the above negative post, is Eric Wessels and he with Profidrum.

There has been sold Blue-Eco drums for a while now here in Denmark, never heard of a problem.

      Vipertom,

I'd love to see your pond. I live in San Diego but I'll be in Riverside today. Could you PM your address?

It's very interesting that the pro-Profidrum members/dealers on this forum are not commenting on this gentleman (EricW), one would assume they know him, or of him.

I'm very interested in upgrading to a drum filter in the spring and I would like to assume we can get unbiased opinions on the various units that are available.

I think part of the issue is being a vendor on here requires you to be available for questions, but not directly promote your products or disparage other vendors products.

The problem in this instance is the European member with only 4 posts on koiphen voicing his opinion about the BE filter. Regardless of whether he works for profidrum, he offered no justification for his claim. That alone should be reason enough to ignore his statement.

I would however, like to see a better breakdown on how the BE filter works. So far every photo I've seen is either dimly lit, or still in the crate. Perhaps one of the early adopters can post some detailed photos or perhaps a diagram on how it works its magic.

I have been a user of the ProfiDrum filter since July. It replaced a KC RDF that never ran well in my setup. I know no one by the name of Eric...I do know Norm whom I purchased my ProfiDrum through. I can tell you that this RDF is the REAL deal. It has handled everything that has been thrown at it - leaves...gum balls - and has yet to fail!
