Does it get small yellow flowers? Based largely on the last pictures, it looks most like a Ludwigia and may be L. repens.

Is the stem square? Could it be a mint of some kind?l Maybe Mentha aquatica, "Water Mint"? Though I think it can get a lavender colored flower.

Here are some pictures today of a Ludwigia in one of my ponds. I'll look later to see if I can find one blooming, but the flowers are easy to overlook, they are small, four petal blooms that arise at the base of the leaf axil and are seasonal.

I thought mint as well, except the leaves don't look quite right, and the last photo in particular does not look anything like mint. Not only that, but you'd smell the minty freshness from time to time when you touched the plant or the wind blew just right.
Thanks for all the responses and feedback. It looks like Craig may be right. My plant’s leaves at the end of the season turn reddish and I have not noticed any flowers if there has been any.
Turtle Mommy – Yes I do like the plant. It does not bother the stream nor is it invasive and takes care of its self. The stems and leaves that are in the water form roots. This year I planted some of the pinched stems in a few other places and after a week I couldn’t pull them out. Looks like the roots grew into the gravel. I would recommend this plant.

Ludwigia repens is a aquatic/amphibious plant native to the southern tier of the US. It is very popular in the aquarium industry and commonly sold for fish tanks as 'Red Lud'. In its submerged state the leaves take on a distinct red coloration.

Ludwigia is also used in aquascaping, fully submersable plant. AWE-some when blended into a piece of aquascape in combinations of pearling.
