      600 Gallon QT Filter

      Hi All,
I am about to start a 600 gallon QT next to the house made out of blocks and cement. My question is, will a Birdman S/G filter be enough bio filtration for the QT or do I need to add additional bio filtration?
If I need to add something, Any suggestions?
Basically going to build a square tank 6´X 4´X 3´ inner dimensions with a window on one wall to view from the deck I will make it like a river flow, 2 bottom drains on one end 4 each 1 or 2" TPR´ mid level on the other end with a simple riser pipe skimmer. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I would use one 4" bottom drain. The idea of feeding the two filters (s/g>mb) in series is not as good as in parallel. For a pond this size, I think you're really overthinking the filtration. Even a single 3"BD feeding to a single s/g would probably be enough, but that would depend on the "constant" stocking rate/feed rate.

      I'd second Mike's post...
I have an 800 gallon Intex pool with a retro BD to pump to s/g filter and currently have a monster (+30") and companion
in it, and after an initial spike, the s/g filter is keeping up with the ammonia/nitrite amazingly well.

Thanks for the input, Ill go with just the S/G and see how it goes...... Will post a new build thread when it gets started, will be including an outdoor kitchen into the build. 2 birds one stone QT will try to make it a nice viewing tank as well with a window

Sounds cool. I have filtered a QT with just a s/g filter in the past. If you want extra bio, tee after the pump and feed a small shower or something.

I have seen lots of QT's and even ponds up to 3000 gallons run off just one S/G filter.

      Simple enough to work :)

Here is the plan, simple and easy..... The QT will be block and cement, coated with the same coating used on my big cement pond...
