i just cant not believe how over crowded the pond used to be
Look like you had a better system now and less fishes. You must really focus on quality over quantity now. How many fishes you had back then? although it was "over crowded", they all seem to be decent size and healthy. You really knew how to taken care of them.

I don’t remember but could be in the 30’s
The first 3-4 years in the hobby you get fancy with cheap tosai and just working through slowly
But honestly the day I founded Koiphen then my eyes for koi much improved
I will try to grow 6-7 big decent koi out of my pond like bro NNTampa is mean time now

Lol, 30's, you make me feel not too bad .. I guess most of ponders go through the same path . And I think it's good in someway. We can't just be good out of the gate. So, we start out with "cheaper" kois and once we know what to do, and know how to take care them, then we can move to more "expensive" kois. Of course, cheap/expensive term is relative for individual . I finished my 1st year with a few issues during the first winter. I am in the second winter now and have done a few different things to help the kois. I'll see how it comes out in the spring.

You have such a short winter and it's not even that cold Kevin! Our water is below 50 from Nov to April (and typically below 40 in Dec and Jan)

yeah last winter I saw some temps as low as 28 which is cold for us. I guess since I got 50 tosai the
winter had to be colder than usual. I was keeping them at 67 or more. this year they have enough fat and think they are on there own lol

So I'm around the same ballpark then (good to know). Water temp 60F, feeding 10g daily (5Koi/1GF); up from the same time last year.

15 grams is how much volume? Is that per koi?

4-5 medium hikari pellets each koi (except the chagoi )
Just to keep them active and get their shape back after all the summer buffets
