      The herd for 2014

Here is the herd for this season. Fourteen fish ranging from 9" to 20" in 2800 gallons total volume. I hope to rehome at least 2 this summer. I bet most of you can figure out which ones. The second pic is my "monet" shot. These were all shot with a 50mm primary lens.

What kind of filtration do you have that can handel that stocking density? Fish look nice and healthy especially for just comming out of winter.

Are they mostly female? That's some thick fish. What are you feeding?

Most are Males. The only "KNOWN" female is the orange Gin Rin Aka Hajiro long fin. The Yamabuki may be female. I have not fed much this year yet. I just started to feed 3 weeks ago and just last week I started to feed once a day. Heng Feng mixed with wheat based food is what they are getting now.

My system is as follows. 2 bottom drains each on a separate circuit, each with a skimmer that goes to two Sequence 750's. Each is pumping about 2700 GPH. This 5000+ gph goes to 6 filters and then to the water falls. 4 are 55 gallon barrel upflow type, each with different media. 2 have Matla and springflow topped with fiber matting and each has 2 airstones. One is full of matla and fiber matting and the 4th barrel is full of K3 and K1 with 3 air stones and acts like a moving bed filter. The other two filters are pressure filters and each has a 20w UV on the exit side. I have a single AP40 air pump that powers 12 airstones throughout the pond. 7 are in the filters, 3 are in the water falls pool and 2 are in the pond itself. In addition to all this I have a PP running about 600 gph, and a separate skimmer circuit on the far end of the pond with filter brushes and netting powered by a 1800 GPH pump. This year I will add a bead filter and a larger 5500 gph pump to feed it.

I really like the barbels shot. It's awfully cute.
