All this rain in put a halt to digging. Also just got a clay pick to help with the digging.

I'm impressed. digging through wet black clay is like trying to shovel cold tar.
Currency units are a media of exchange and not a store of wealth
it was not easy. almost done though. except for the filter pit. thats going to be another 5-6 feet deep.

I am using the 8x8x16" cinderblocks for my pond for full length walls. Are you just building a collar? For my filter pit I am using the 6x8x16" blocks. Great progress so far!
Cheryl
im thinking about doing a liner pond. the filter pit will be cinderblock walls with a deck roof.

The 8x8x16" blocks are easier to fit together for walls, but the thinner blocks saves you a little more space, that is why I am using them in my filter pit, I need all the space I can get. Because they are thinner, the corners don't line up correctly, here is a quick diagram.
In the side view you can see how they are staggered, in the top view I show the white blocks off to the side of the base blocks so you have to picture them on top of the grey blocks, but you can see that in the corners the blocks will overhang a bit, which isn't that big of a deal if they won't be seen on the outside, or you can cut them down.
