      Remembering Henk

Today we recieved notice that one of our users has passed. Henk Haan passed a few days ago after a battle with cancer. He hasn't been active on here for awhile, however we wanted to share the news with any friends he may have had here on Koiphen. Many of you will likely remember him from his creative and beautiful indoor pond construction. Feel free to use this post to share any stories you may have.

Oh, I am so sorry to hear this, RIP Henk. His pond was one of the most beautiful ponds I have ever seen, the build was epic. I was and still am blown away at the detail in the design, so well thought out. He will be missed.

MY condolences to Henks family & friends. He will be sadly missed.

I had the privilege of seeing his pond in person. His creativity and understanding of water quality was second to none. He was able to build the elusive "maintenance free" pond that we all dream of.

RIP Henk - his pond was one of my most favorites here on Koiphen. I loved following his build thread.

I won't say Rest in Peace because Heaven just got one heck of a pond builder and as a pond building engineer, there will be a beautiful pond there soon.

I will send up prayers for strength and healing for the family he had to leave too soon.

So sorry to hear this, I was just looking at his fiberglass posts recently - a really decisive, yet creative guy.

      Jim,

Thank you for posting the construction link. I do not recall ever communicating with Henk directly (my loss!), but I just viewed his construction thread and I am beyond impressed. Henk brought great insights and skills to his project. Hopefully, his approach to using fiberglass (the manner of which I had not previously seen) will inspire others to try similar creative pond designs.

      Thanks again.

How could I ever forget that oasis? My most favorite pond build, and far beyond me in technical aspects but I wanted to just live in there the rest of my days.

My condolences to his wife and family, a brilliant mind has left.

Yep, I agree. Henk was one the "good ones" here and provided many hours of informative, well documented posts about his pond construction/water quality. He has been missed over the last couple years, and now we all know probably why. I like Cindy's post best, gone but not forgotten. His talents were worthy of the next plane if consciousness. Someday, we'll all get to see what Henk's next project is/was!

Sorry to hear this. Henk built a koi pond that I could only dream about. I still tell people about his build and where to go to see it for them selves. I often wondered where he went or what he was up to and now to find this out. So many people are taken to early in life to this dreaded disease. It will be a glorious day when they find a cure.

      RIP
