Okay, thanks for clearing that up for me. The pic makes it a bit hard to see the full extent of the flow from the 3" pipe, but if you think it's enough, that's fine.

Update: Tank is fully cycled - WOOT!

Everyone looks great.........except my little tosai was VERY dead when I got back. Still on the bottom rotting in the tank. UGH. Looks like there was physical trauma of some sort. Only thing I can figure out is when my fish sitter was there the first day, she was having a difficult time figuring out the float switch. It kept going on and off b/c she couldn't figure out which end was "up" to turn it back on. Anyway, I bet my little guy was hiding under the pump and got sucked onto the cover and got stuck there or something. So sad. Beautiful little LF with a dynamite personality.

Other than that, the pond herd is all alive. Still flashing and shaking heads so I know I need to treat w/ Proform. Temps will be warm enough starting Wednesday and I think I'm going to do "every other day" to ensure I am killing off everything, with a Prazi chaser.

How are your fish doing now? Haven't got an update for more than three years so thought I would ask!

Im sure this thread is super old but future reference, buy your intex pools from big lots (if u have one in your area) at the end of summer. Usually 60% off or more. Last year bought a 10' for $49.99.

Windsong - all is well!!! I have learned a LOT about water chemistry since that experience. Generic thought: I am confident that a lot of the times that I thought I had parasite issues in my pond...I had swinging pH due to low KH.

Since the mega cold winter we had, I have some fish that have become "snowbirds" and have to be brought in every Fall to the indoor QT. I have it down to a science now! I have a half shower specifically for that purpose and it is smooth sailing (including battery backup if the power goes out). I pull have a couple of bags of cermedia that I leave in the waterfall box and pull it and put it in the half shower in the fall. Voila! Instant cycling (thank ya Jesus lol).

      Thanks for checking in!

4 years later and I just fired up the same setup in the basement for my handful of "snowbirds" that have to eternally be overwintered since the polar vortex. As I re-read this thread, I wanted to express my gratitude for the folks who took the time to help me sort this all out!
