Awesome Hardy x Tropical by Pairat Songpanich

This H x T water lily has Hardy "Perry's Fire Opal" for a mother and Tropical "Nangkwaug Fah" for a father. Unreal cross. How awesome to use a Tropical with those crazy sepals and have it meld into this beauty. Not sure who gets courtesy for the photos but it's probably the hybridizer.

Love it! The petal shape is my favorite style, and I love the color.

I agree i love wide rounded petals. Photo of blue pollen parent is from the net and the photo of the pod parent is from me. I wonder if these hybrids bloom year round. I know Turtlemike says they bloom a long time so hopefully there like Tropicals in that respect.

Is this something that is available now or will it take years to be distributed at a reasonable cost?

Beautiful! I love the color, and also would like to know if/when it would be available for sale.

I think Brandon McLane of Florida aquatic nurseries will sell them in 2015 although he's a wholesaler so i'm not sure who gets the first ones. He has a ton of them. Turtlemike hasn't said when he will sell yet as far as i know.

That H X T from Pairat is Queen Sirikit. I have it but I don't have permission to distribute it. I got it late in the season and I haven't seen it bloom yet. I like the pix of it I have seen. I hear that it is not a big flower or plant. 3-4 in flower. I have a few similar ones in various colors.

You are right Matt....FAN is releasing a ISH H x T this coming season. I got their list the other day and 'Purple Passion' the best new H x T lily for 2013 will be available, for what I think is a surprisingly affordable price. If I am right in seeing that you have Pairat's" Purple #2", then you already have the best new H x T for 2014. < g >

Thanks for the info Craig. I do have Siam Purple 2. Some criticize Pairat's hxt's for lazy flowering but i could not care less i love his hybrids.

I have it also got it middle august and it started to bloom but water got freezing cold and it stalled. I dig small plants most people don't have big ponds anyway. Next year will be fun growing a few hxt's. I also finally got some REAL hxt's seeds but the challenge remains of bringing them to flower.
