Profidrum-RDF is coming to the US

I have been looking for reliable drum filters for the last couple years and finally found a dealer willing to import these to the US. These units are very popular in Europe and they come in with stainless steel body and polypropylene. I ordered 2 two Eco 65/40 models but will not arrive here for couple weeks assuming everything is good. I will install to test them out this winter and will report back on the performance next year. Norm with Bridway Koi is the distributor for Profidrum USA and he will be flying to Nederlands next week to chek out all models to make sure every thing will be compatible to US standards.

Sweet.... moving parts makes me nervous..lol.. that's why I like the ultra sieves..very simple.
      Looking foreward to reports.
Are these to be gravity fed with a pump draw?
I'd love to find a prefilter that could be used several feet above water line yet be in between my pond and pump. Zakki sieve doesn't have the capacity I need. I want one with 9000gph capacity.
I doubt these will serve that purpose. I know with all the hype about bio, most people skimp on mechanical, at least I do still, to a certain extent.

I do know what you mean regarding moving parts and I also got two Cetus with 200 micron and it is ok but I am still not happy with water clarity and the daily cleaning getting old for me after a while. I just want to come home from work and open a can of beer to enjoy watching my fish instead of cleaning the filters and I hate getting my hand wet when it's cold outside.

yes they are gravity fed units but you have to ask Norm with Bridway Koi on the pump fed application set up. Here is the link if anyone is interested http://www.profidrum.com/uk/

Thanks... I can count bb sized pebbles at 6' deep, but still am irritated with seeing the slightest amount of floating particulate. Lol

I sure hope everything works correctly with our electrical system. Do you know of existing installations in the US? As you have heard there are learning curves to importing electronic filters from other countries.

Zac, the electrical compatibility to US is the number one question on Norm's list. He is flying out tonight to Nederlands to check out all models first hand and I am sure he will have more questions..

Most modern DC transformers will handle 50 or 60 hz power input, other than that they might have to swap out to a pump that is spec'd out for north american power frequencies. They'll have to make a "US version" regardless just for the wall plugs as well.

I gave the power problem to a friend of mine who is a electronic engineer, and he stated that it would be no problem to "make" a box that would make your power into ours.
He said that they probably could use a screw on connector, that way it would be splash save to.

I'm interested too. I might get the small one and run it on my qt and see how it does.

Looking forward to getting two big Profidrums from Norm.

These are the bullet proof RDF that have been in use for years in the UK and Europe unlike some that are available here now. Mike Snaden of Yumekoi sells these and he's a stickler for high quality filters and koi.

Good, I will tell Norm to plug your unit in first to make sure it's compatible with our electrical system here in the US

How do these bad boys compare to the 2013 Koi Collection RDF?

The only real thing I saw that made Profi better than the KC is the Profi has a solid piece injection molded outter case, which in the long run of years and years of use should hold up better. You can also get the Profi in all stainless construction.

They seem to cost about 30-50% more than the KC from the UK online dealers, so it's also matter of getting what you pay for.

Where did you read that they were injection molded? Usually these types of things are hot gas welded together.
