the syringe only holds up to 3ml

4ml?? Too right that seems like a lot! Where did you get that dose from?
0.4ml (zero point four) would seem more reasonable, depending on the size of the fish.

Lets don't make this complicated. Fill to the number 40 if you have figured the size correctly.
mine from farm store just has 1-2-or 3 cc
The pic I posted is a 1cc.
he is in the 22" range so about 1/2cc for 10% 1ml = 1cc
Koi length(inches)----5% Baytril-----Naxcel----Nuflor-----Cefotan-----Azactam

The Koi in the link died
The info on the drug says '0.01ml per pigeon' - even if your koi is 4 times bigger than a pigeon that is still only 0.04ml
And where on that dose table does it say 4ml?
It seems to me that this Koi is being treated with a 'last resort' but a '1st resort' hasn't even been attempted.

I'm trying , getting things together and re searching . this weekend I will inspect and determine if looks better or worse ,injection is last resort . planning on the topical treatments ,have everything on hand. Said that fish died you could see the healing till he injected by the base of the fin . there's another thread pigeon baytril or somthing.has a happy ending ....
I have no idea the strength of Enrotron 10% wise compared to Baytril 10% wise. Injection amounts are based on weight. Length just gets you into the ball park. If it was a large female than I would give a little more. Baytril is a (little) more forgiving as compared to some other drugs. If your koi is average male and you were giving 10% baytril than it would be .5 cc injection.
I am assuming cutting the dosage in half is correct as I have only used 5% baytril over the years.
You well know the effectiveness of this product (Enrotron) by the third injecition. If it is not improving than you well have to reconsider dosage or use different drug.

Nope, I would fill it to the number...
I edited this because it is not Baytril being used and the rates may be completely different.
Here's a Koiphen thread for more info on injection amounts

OK bunyip I am not going to draw you a picture. I'm not good at it.lol All I am going to say is if I gave a koi 6 inch koi .40 baytril at 5%. It would be dead.
Yes I agree kdh....4 is far too low and my error (rushing to get to work here)
However 4ml is far too much.

.4 at 10 baytril will do 22 inch koi.No higher will damage area of shot.
No one said 4ml. I believe it was .4
Just for the record. I have given well over 250 injections over the years. Using different antibiotics. With an extremely high survival rate.
As compared to others on koi phen that ain't much but I think I know what I am doing when giving shots.
But then again probably not.

vpkoi, what divisions are shown on your syringe. kdh has shown insulin syringe which is dosed by units, with 100 being 1ml. It sounds like your syringe is maybe a 3 ml/cc syringe, and if it is for large animals, may not even be incremented in 0.1ml increments.
I do not believe there is any difference in the med that you have gotten and baytril, so the dosing should be 1/2 that shown for the 5% based on the size of the fish. The dose for almost all fish is less than 1ml, so decimals become important.
