Thumbs down Hole in net, fish missing..

So, we have a net over our pond, and I recently spotted a hole in it.

Before we put the net over, we lost one of the five feeder goldfish we were testing the pond with, along with two koi.

We are now missing a third koi.

Any ideas on how to keep birds away? The net clearly isn't working!

Also, I'm taking the goldfish out this coming weekend. I've been so busy with my dogs health problems they I just couldn't get around to it. I'll be taking new photos of each koi as well! I know they aren't anything special, but I can tell they have already changed a lot! I'm very excited to see them up close again.

Some report good success with the Scarecrow that startles them with a blast of water, it *always* works to startle the person who cares for the pond and often works on the vermin as well. I would put another net )an intact one) on the pond, too. I can't use my Scarecrow in the winter because I have to turn off the hose bib ... perhaps the villainous fish thief will move on - a net does deter a lot of predators.

      Sorry for your loss!

Good luck and please keep us posted.

For about three weeks, I kept a net on the pond (raised over the surface of the water), a tarp over the "kill zone" (shallow area where the heron always struck) and ordered a Scarecrow sprinkler. It worked. Victoria is right, scares me WAY more often than the bird. lol
