I think the pattern is very balenced. Maby a little more sumi. I noticed how deep and full the sumi is and I really like that. I dont particualy like the sumi ovals but thats just my opinoin. It has a really nice kohaku patern too. If you take it to a show it would be interesting on how it does. Overall nice koi pick. Brady
In a koi show, the Ginrin fish are judged only on the Ginrin first. If the koi does not have good Ginrin, the pattern dose not matter much. This fish seems to have Pearl Ginrin but from the vedio it is hard to tell if it looks good in the Beni and Sumi. If it does it could do well at a koi show. That would depend on the competition on that day. Nice Fish!
thank you both..
if you look at the 16 to 20 sec. point you can see some in the beni.
i will find out in about 26 says how it does at the DKK show.

Is this a pearl gin? It is difficult to tell from the video.
This fish appears to be around 14" or less and male. Looking at the completeness of the beni and sumi, it appears to already be "finished". Good for a show coming up soon, but for later, well, I couldn't say for sure. The only concern I would have is that there is only one single scale of sumi on the shiroji, the rest is kasane sumi (black over red) which always presents a stronger look, but does not allow a visual into the future of the quality of the sumi. For now though, it's a pretty nice fish.

Always learning!
6000 gallon liner pond
Skimmer to 1/4 hp 2 speed pump to Bead filter to 4 jets,
2-4" BD to SC to Nexus 300 to 1/4 hp Performance Pro Artesian pump to 2 S/G filters to waterfall
So, which of these would win? Both Pearl GR Males and under 14", but over 12".

Well, no, actually this is one of two fish that I own that were actually Domestically bred by Richard Rombold of San Joaquin Koi here in Calif. Don't even know if he's still in business. He bought a second farm and was having real problems on several fronts. I haven't seen any offerings from him either on ebay and such or any posts here regarding his work. The overall "quality" if his work was really becoming evident after he began infusing Matsunosuke and Maruyama blood into his offspring, basically just for the "growth" potential. His fish are/were great except in that department. If I remember correctly, the last time I was at the farm was around '08 or '09 and selected a female Kohaku and this PS Sanke. The Kohaku is roughly 20" and this one is still around 15" and a male. I didn't care about the sex, I wanted to see/learn about PS gin rin and how it looks at maturity and larger size. Well, sadly, the size won't change, but neither has the quality of the fish. It looks bearly the same, with a bit more "depth" to the colors. Very intense! Some day maybe I'll break down and take some "in-pond" pics.
