Randy I am going by what you have posted with temps of yesterday and currently. I am going by your fluctuations in a 24 hour period. Get your lines and filters or whatever water is running through and exposed to into 24 hour shade. You well see a difference. Kinda like that hose lying in the yard. As I said mine does not fluctuate but very little. Even in the hot Northern California weather. We are headed to the hundreds High of 108 to 110 by Monday. I still well have very little temp fluctuation between night and day.

No, 74 to78 is what is recommended.

You heard wrong, those are the temps that kill the virus and give you Koi that are carriers. 74 to 78 are the temps.

To answer your question directly...Yes. Is it cost effective? No. Is it a sure cure all? IMHO, No. Would I use it? No

There is a thread here...very long...but worth taking a look.

Kinda raises the question, as these koi came from FL where ponds can get that warm in the summer if the original koi were subjected to those temps after being infected (maybe) in FL and became carriers? Just trying to look at all possibilities.

Lets set record straight the Koi came from Florida 7-9 years old came to Vegas 3 years ago. All the other Koi were from Hawaii and probably many of them imported from Japan. When I spoke to my Vet who is treating my Koi (and is from Hawaii!)and his contact at UC Davis who did the test for KHV ] along with Kent Wallace the probability is extremely high the infected fish were from Hawaii!!
We can agree to disagree and play pet detective here but enough is enough with Koi from Florida causing this KHV outbreak!

Well 3 weeks no more Koi lost and all seem fine very active. My test is still showing .25 ammonia but I think it is wrong because of the Ultimate water conditioner Im adding 3 times a week after doing 20% water changes 3x a week. Im getting Fritz Bio booster today so Ill add that to try to boost biofilters. Pond temp is 81-87 degrees with Vegas temps above 111 degrees Salt at .1 ...Only Feeding 3 times a week. But I think definitely headed in right direction hopefully KHV doesnt lift its ugly head again anytime soon

Wow, what a roller coaster. Glad things are settling down. What did the Hawaii dealer say?

I did not confront dealer as I believe it will be a waste of time and be total aggravation. I would say 99% of dealers will never admit they stocked infected koi
