Yes, I noticed that, too. Welcome to our kids...the future of the hobby. I have seen several over the years start out as kids, mature and grow into adults and still in the hobby. It's a good thing.

      I'm 19 do I count?
Ok seriously though I joined here when I was 15 and it was only me and Jonathan really active on the forums (and even I vanished for a while) with maybe 1 or 2 others so seeing other kids joining in the hobby is great! I know how hard it is to build a nice setup when you're on someone else's budget

Haha. I'm 22 maybe that counts? :P My brother who knows much more than I do who has been reading and understanding much more about Koi since he was 10 or 11 (he is going to be some sort of marine biologist one day) is just 14. Then there is my dad who is really the [financial] backbone lol. Starting to realize the expense of this hobby!

Hope to get to know all of you moving forward!

Anybody under the age of 30 is a kid to me! I have been impressed with the younger people's pond knowledge!

I remember when I was 10 or 11 I dug a hole in the backyard, used a trash bag as a liner, filled it with water, then rode my bike to the pet store, came home with a feeder goldfish. Put in the very back corner of the yard lol so dad wouldn't see it. This was before the internet and all the information you needed just a click away, it was just all made up in my mind lol. Dad eventually found my hole with water, made me put the goldfish in my fish tank and fill in the hole. Bought my first house when I was 20, and had a pond in the yard with in the first 2 years lol.

I wanted to do what you did when I was a kid, but didn't. Took me 50 years to finally dig a hole.

Well I joined 3 years ago with a stock tank pond. Let's see where I have gone since then. Not only did I build a true koi pond, but I have made friends all across the world. This place isn't just my hobby anymore it's a part of life and a family. I have made not just friends but family friends. I have traveled all across the country to build ponds, helps others, and meet new people because of this forum. It took my tiny little fish world and exploded it to unimaginable proportions. I truly do enjoy this place and thank everyone who takes part. I really have an extended family, so much that members even came to my wedding, and those that could not make it where there in thoughts. I started out as a koiphen kid and here I am at 21. Proud to be a koiphen member. To those new kp kids my advice is listen to the experienced ones, make friends, and most of all have fun here.

Ah good times... Koiphen kids... If you have a local koi club please let me know. I've got something in the works for ya.

And to everyone else, I hope everything is going well. I'm still around just not posting a whole lot.

      Happy ponding.

Well I was planning to send my winning Powerball lotto ticket, but I forgot where I placed it. I've had members from clubs offer to pay for my koi club membership so I'm just repaying my dues.

My daughter Gwyneth is 12 now and she reads as a guest sometimes. One of the fish in my pond is hers. She is not really timid but has more interest in ferrets and boys than anything...

YAY!!! I'm a kid!!! 23 years old. Built my pond when i was 13 with birthday money and confirmation money. I started on this forum when i was 15 as FranksFish.... I don't think that is even active anymore. It really is a great hobby for young people and I commend the parents for supporting/tolerating the hobby. I know ive asked a few times to convert our in-ground pool to biological filtration for the feeesh

I'm 30 and have been dabbling in ponding for 3 plus years. I just joined a local koi club and the next youngest person is in their late 30's possibly early 40's? Made me feel really young, but I have alot I can learn from the "more experienced" members of the club and looking forward to it all! As far as I'm concerned they're all still young if they're still keeping ponds!
