Weed killer vinegar salt and soap lets see

I sprayed a whole gallon of vinegar salt and soap on a huge patch of poison ivy and virginia creeper. I sprayed some on some bermuda grass in front of my roses and day lilies lets see what they do.

If it kills the bermuda grass you will become an instant millionaire. Let me know if it works.

I used the solution posted here quite a few years ago and it worked well. Watch put where you put salt though it stays in the soil and can cause problems growing plants there later. It will be interesting to see how it works on the weeds you put it on they are a few of the really tuff ones.

I spray that mix around the pool - it does a good job. It is pet friendly alternative to roundup.

Wow, just saw that formula on Pinterest, was looking forward to experimenting with it. I look forward to hearing the results and the timeframe. Got all sorts of bindweed in the big garden with the bermuda creeping in from the sides!

Oh no, Gary, you must not be around anymore! Three days have passed since you said you would post pictures "tomorrow" if you were still around!

I am wondering if using stronger vinegar would work, I also have 10 and 20% vinegar for killing plants.

Ok I forgot it did burn the bermuda grass but I think its just a burn. The poison Ivy had one of two patches that looked bad the rest just wanted more. Its been raining ever since, I know that I sprayed it on some weed seedling that were coming up and it killed them but I think after you get what you are trying too kill, killed it would work too keep anything coming back. Its raining right now again but I will go take more pics these are from day 2.

I'd like to know the formula. I don't have much poison ivy but have some unbelievable briars that grow up into the shrubbery and will sprout anywhere - it's really hard to get rid of because like Va. Creeper, it has "tendrils" that branch out underground and very strong root systems. I have yet to find anything aside from concentrated Round-Up that will kill them.

The formula was 1 gallon of vinegar 1 cup of salt and 3 tbs of blue dawn dish soap, I dont think it will kill the greenbriars at all.

Thanks, Gary. I was afraid of that - those d*&%^$# briars are a hardy stock!

There was one on Pinterest that was 2 cups vinegar, 1T salt and 1T liquid soap.

I am going to use this in my gravel driveway and in the cracks on my sidewalk where grass is growing where it shouldn't be. I'm sure I look silly mowing the drive. I do know you don't want to use this formula in an area where you do want things to grow eventually as the salt concentration will keep anything from growing until it washes away which can take a long time. So careful in the flower/veggie gardens and lawns. But any where else is fair game...

I have tried this on bermuda. It burned it but did not kill it. From what I have read it doesn't work for any perinnial weeds since it does not kill the root.

I applied Ortho Grass B Gone last week. The bermuda is looking a little wilted now. I'm going to reapply this weekend and see if I can kill the stuff once and for all.
