Lets see how long it takes me to kill these Hens and Chicks

Ok this is the third or 4th time to plant these things I moved the pots where they will get some sun not just all day I think its the baking heat of the evening that gets them.

What kind of planting media do you use with your potted succulents?

I just used miracle gro potting soil with some sand. That is what they were all planted in in their containers. Well there pots did not have any sand just mostly composted bark and a little peat.

That is what I use in my potted ones also. The ones in the beds are just plain ole dirt when I can find some to dig up.

Mine seem to grow best when they get only morning sun - nothing direct after about 1 PM

Here in Illinois they thrive by being planted in horrible soil and ignored completely. As soon as I start messing with them I kill them.

Well mine are looking bad already some have rotted the ones I got in the mail and put in the shade are doing well but lost their color. These pots are going down hill fast even the sedum looks bad.I know that we have had lots of rain but the pots are well drained. I just dont think they can take the Oklahoma sun and humidity, I think it steams them.

Maybe that is why they do good for me...no humidity usually.

They don't always do well in Florida because of the humidity and rain.

It seems like it is getting harder and harder to grow plants that us to be so easy to grow!

I put mine in dirt from the yard and sat them under a tree. Once and a while I pull weeds out, that's it! These have been planted for over 20 years. I do know they seem to do better if they are rootbound.

Little Axe, east of Thunderbird Lake. I moved them out from under the trees for more sun, they started looking bad so moved them back under the trees. So they don't like full sun, they do get some of the evening sun. You should be okay with them in Gore, put some rocks in the bottom of a pot so they will have GOOD drainage, throw in some dirt out on the yard then stick them in. I think y'all get more rain than us so make sure you have good drainage, they don't like wet roots! If I can do it you can! lol
