      Grow out #6 + #11 - shipping pic

My grow out fish arrived on Thursday. I came home from work @ lunch to get them in the pond. I had to let the bags soak for a bit to get temps down to the pond temp. Frank did a great job packing them. The box was pretty beat up, so I know they did not get handled well. A couple of the fish were injured during shipping. I did not have time to bowl them. #6 is in the center(2nd pic). #11 is @ 7o'clock facing center(2nd pic). The showa at the top is from the original pics Frank sent, when offering Purdin's fish for the grow out. I made arrangements with Frank to get that fish through Purdin. You can see the changes in her in about 7 months. I have them in QT with salt and feeding medicated food to try to heal the injured fish. Will bowl in a week or so.

Sorry for the injuries... but it sounds like you've got it handled! You have to wonder about
how they're treated a long the way.

They both should be fun to watch grow and change... Thanks for posting pics of them!

Nice pattern on the Doitsu Lemon Hariwake. Use to be one of my favorite varieties.

Sorry they got so banged up being shipped. My Showa's were very stressed upon arrival. However they perked right up within a couple of days.

Good luck with the entire bunch.

Showa #6 died yesterday. It was pretty beat up when it arrived. The Bigger GR showa is in rough shape. The side of the box her bag was on was bashed in pretty bad. She rarely eats and has not improved much. The other ones are all doing very well. Time will tell with her.

I would pull the second one and give it a once over to see if there is sign of infection. Scrape and scope if you can.

Sorry to hear of the loss, that makes two in the group thus far.

I only had the fish 2 weeks. The box was damaged during shipping. The fish was bleeding from a wound on its nose. The GR showa was worse but that one is still hanging on. The box was pretty heavy it looked like it was dropped a few times.

Holy crap. I have received numerous shipments of fish for me, friends, club grow out...from many different shippers/breeders...and in several methods. Delta Dash, FedEx, UPS, SouthWest Air. I have never had a damaged box or damaged fish. I have gotten some fish that maybe had some problems before being shipped or developed during shipping. But never lost one. I'm sure you had a proper QT ready and waiting which is the best you can do....as well as being prepared to treat whatever.

Sad that you have already lost fish.
