Goood news!!! I *think* he made a full recovery (minus a bit of growth setback)! Was stuck at around 9" forever probably from the massive amount of stress but has finally grown~! I don't know how much but maybe we hit 12"? Or more? I'm moving them inside tomorrow so will get some pix & exact measurements then and we shall seee
      The sumi is darker

Thx! I think it's pretty good growth considering the oops' along the way and the fact that he is a very skiddish eater.

Coming along very nicely, Body looks good and the sumi is very much coming up in typical fashion for a Purdin showa. I don't think my Kohaku has grown quite that much, it's been a steady growth and no set back for it but it's shy amongst a bunch of greedy eaters. I'm not so much worried about size as I am good body lines and skin, which both seem to have no problems with. Great Job!

It's weird because he used to be a hit & run eater but now that I brought them all inside he swarms with the rest of them!

This fish started with literally 3 SPECKS of sumi and look at em now! He's on a ROLL here. Actually I'm starting to think this is a she but I dunno yet.
So much fun watching the showa + shiro crew change this winter, I have a goal to get 2 more showas this season because I like the excitement

I SWEAR this fish is afraid of the camera, I try to get head on pix and as soon as the cam is pointing he turns tail and ducks under the pool side.
Anyway here's some quick updates before another wc. This fish is a GREAT eater now! Does this mean the fiasco that happened last year is completely in the past? Maybe, because he's growing now after being stuck forever.
I've learned one thing already and it's that Purdin showa (even the ones that are almost kindai) end up with patterning coming up all over the place. I can't wait to take pictures this spring when that sumi is in the sunlight.

While it's sumi is beginning to rise, most of what has risen is on top of the beni. To truly evaluate sumi quality, keep an eye on what it looks like on the shiroji. That's where you'll see the quality of the sumi best. On this one, that would be on the top of the shoulder, along the left lateral area and the ozustu/tail area. I do like the "look" this one is developing, and glad to hear it's eating well. That is a good indication that the stress from the issues in the past are gone and it's on it's way size wise.

With luck these will be the last indoor pictures till the fall! Planning on moving them outside by the beginning of April if it actually decides to warm up in the lovely northeast.

Then I'll be able to take outside pictures in actual daylight to do the sumi and colors justice. My camera always decides to make things either more red or orange than they really are depending on how it's feeling on that particular day.
